paws 300x86 Canine Voting Begins Near Your Coronado HomeOnly in Coronado do you actually have the ability to vote a dog into the office of Mayor.  That’s right, the Pacific Animal Welfare Society (PAWS) of Coronado is holding a canine mayoral election.  The dog voted into office will serve a two year term and the voting period begins tomorrow, Sunday, April 1st.  Dogs must live in Coronado to be eligible for the honor.  Campaigning near your Coronado home will last through April 27th and the winner will be announced on April 30th at 5 p.m. at the Coronado Animal Care Facility located at 1395 First Street. Currently sixteen candidates are in the running for Canine Mayor and you can meet them by clicking here.  The candidates are as follows:

  • Jack
  • Betsy
  • Mojito
  • Buddy
  • Murray
  • Charlee
  • Nado Brown,
  • Diamond
  • Sam
  • Elvin
  • Samy
  • Emma
  • Sassy
  • Henry
  • Zena
  • Each vote costs $1 and multiple votes will all be counted. Funds raised will benefit the PAWS of Coronado Litter Free Program, a no cost spay/neuter program for cats. Ballot boxes can be found at Animal Care Facility at 1395 First Street, Crown Veterinary Hospital at 817 Orange Avenue, Island Barbers at 857 Orange Avenue, and Pacific Sotheby’s Realtors at 1200 Orange Avenue, although you can also vote online.
